WELCOME STUDENTS
» Opening Ceremonies
The new recruits are gathered just within the main gates of the school, where a podium has been set up, bedecked in red banners showing off the massive, stylized A that is the Avengers logo. Nick Fury, a tall and imposing man with an eye patch over one eye is standing behind it, looking down at the small crowd of new students as if he was judging each and every one of them, trying to already weed out the possible bad seeds from among them. Behind him are three others, though with the way they're spaced on either side of them, it's obvious there were meant to be four up there.
The first, the most obvious, is Tony Stark, famed billionaire genius with an obvious penchant for the ladies. It's obvious he's disappointed at the pickings, if the forlorn look at the guys gathered is any indication. Of course, that also means it doesn't take long for his eyes to settle on the only accepted female in the group, and his face immediately breaks out into a grin as he tosses Wanda his most charming wink.
Next to him, and immediately catching onto his annoying behavior, is a stylish brunette that could only be described as bouncy. Janet van Dyne is sure to elbow Tony hard once she catches him acting like a creep, coming very close to knocking him clear off the platform. Nick either doesn't notice their behavior (which is sincerely doubtful), or he expects it enough at this point not to care.
The last on the podium is bored. Bored and green, and Loki very clearly wants to be anywhere but where he's standing at the moment. He idly taps his staff against the ground, passes is back and forth between his hands: just about anything to entertain himself while waiting for the opening ceremonies to start. For a moment, it even looks like he's going to do something with the staff, as a magical spark of green seems to begin to form around it, but a swift snap of Fury's head has him thinking otherwise.
The fourth person, the one meant to be in that vacant spot, is actually just behind the small crowd, leaning against the gates to the school. She has a severe expression on her face, and every attempt at glancing at her or, should there be an exceptionally brave soul among the group, talk to her is met with a glare or a sharp command to walk away. Natasha Romanova, of course, is doing her part to make sure she observes every single person in her sight, just so she knows the kind of people she's dealing with.
Beyond the podium, however, it's very obvious there is something wrong with the facility. With the exception of a small bit of space housing the dorms, a few buildings for classrooms, and a tallobnoxious building with the Stark logo on it, the rest of the grounds is covered in a thick, purple fog. Faint images of different buildings and some otherworldly locations can be seen within the fog, but it doesn't seem like it's possible -- or safe -- to try and breach it.
Before anyone can think to question the bizarre campus, however, is when Nick Fury decides to clear his throat, the sound echoing over the whole space cleared of fog.
"Welcome students!" Fury's voice booms over the loud speaker. "I'm Director Nick Fury, and this is Avengers Academy. You've been invited here because each of you has special talents; skills you'll learn to use for the greater good by working together as a team. Soon you'll forge friendships to last a lifetime, seize opportunities to test your limits, perfect your powers, and become the hero you were meant to be."
He pauses his speech, glancing over each person in turn.
"Class is in session. Now, go show the world what it means to be an Avenger!"
Whether there's applause or not, Nick Fury exits the podium, leaving the teens behind and in front of him to process that. Loki is quick to vacate, while Janet and Tony are the opposite, jumping down to mingle in the small crowd. Another woman has stepped out from around the podium, holding a thick packet of materials for each student joining. Pepper Potts pauses long enough to answer a few questions, but she's completely focused on clarifying the student class schedule and housing arrangements; any questions about the strange fog around campus are deftly evaded.
» Student Invasion
It's not long in the mingling that some more students show up at the gate... although these teens clearly don't belong at Avengers Academy. Each one of them is wearing a black and green jacket, with an emblem of a tentacled skull on the left side. There is also the whole problem that they're armed, from guns to hand to hand weaponry. It only takes the lead two students lifting their guns to realize that they're not here for the curriculum. Tony shouts out to the others just as the gates get blasted off the hinges. As the smoke clears, a young man comes out of the crowd of invading students, pointing his gun at the gathered crowd.
"Hydra Academy sends their regards, hero brats!"
Before the Hydra student can fire, however, a blast of green shoots out over everyone's heads, hitting the kid in the face. His fellow classmates all jump back in surprise, looking down at him, before someone near the podium let out a bored sounding sigh.
"Must I be the one to say it?" Loki asked in the most bored sounding droll imaginable. "Avengers, assemble..."
The Hydra students exchange looks, before raising their weapons, ready for the fight that they were dumb enough to bring.
